IB Split Pipe Flashing Installation

To install IB Pipe Flashing, the first step is to determine the right size to fit the pipe penetration. Refer to the IB Pipe Flashing technical data sheet to select the correct pipe flashing for the required pipe size. Terminate the membrane around the penetration. Ensure that the placement of the fastener and plate allow for a two-inch space away from the welded seam of the flashing. Cut pipe flashing in order to wrap it around the pipe penetration. Trim off the excess flashing material, but leave a minimum of a one-inch overlap on the vertical seam and at the base.

Wrap the pipe flashing around the pipe firmly and tack weld the vertical seam at the base. Weld the vertical seam starting at the base and working upward to create a three-quarter-inch weld. Trim and round the corners of the target flashing and weld the base seam to form a one-and-a-half-inch welded seam around the entire target flashing. Install the pipe clamp around the pipe and tighten it. Please note that it is recommended to install a bead of water stop between the pipe and pipe flashing prior to installing the pipe clamp.

Apply IB Solar Seal Caulk around the top of the pipe flashing and clamp juncture. Work the caulk into place to ensure that there are no voids. Upon completing the installation, ensure all seams and laps are inspected and probed. If deficiencies are found, the area must be rewelded or repaired.
