IB Membrane Layout

Prior to starting your installation, determine the half-sheet layout for your project. Refer to table A.7 for IB's standard warranty requirements for perimeter and corner zones supplemental fastening. Refer to table A.6 for enhanced calculations for perimeter and corner zones that exceed standard warranty requirements by the authority having jurisdiction. Ensure substrates are smooth, clean, dry, and properly secured in accordance with project requirements and IB specifications.

Starting at the lowest point of the roof, position IB PVC membrane beginning with half sheets around the perimeter. Continue membrane layout with 5" wide side laps and 3" wide end-laps. Locate IB barbed seam plates approximately 1/2" in from the outside edge of the underlying membrane. Space plates to meet or exceed IB minimum fastening requirements or the required roof design fastening requirements. Set fasteners with a clutch-equipped or adjustable depth screw gun, taking care not to overdrive or strip out. Screws and plates shall be driven straight, perpendicular to the deck, and flush to the membrane surface, penetrating into or through the roof deck in accordance with IB requirements.

IB membrane side laps and seams shall be hot air welded using either an automatic hot air welding machine or a hot air hand welder in accordance with IB specifications to achieve a minimum 1-1/2" welded seam. All laps shall be rolled with a silicone roller during the welding process to ensure a continuously welded seam without voids. Upon completing the installation, ensure all seams and laps are inspected and probed. If deficiencies are found, the area must be rewelded or repaired.
